The A400M is a newly constructed militarily transport / cargo aircraft that not only fulfils the requirements of the German Air Force into the 21st century, but can also be used for humanitarian and civil aid missions. It is larger, more modern and more flexible than its predecessor. With a maximum payload of 37 tons, bulky and oversized cargoes can now be transported to their destinations quicker and more direct than previously. The A400M's four turboprop engines each develop 11,000 shaft horsepower and are thus the most powerful propeller turbines in the world. So far Germany, France, Spain, England, Turkey, Belgium, Luxembourg, South Africa and Malaysia have ordered a total of 174 Grizzly A400M's.
