For many modellers the appeal of their projects is about using a model kit to replicate the original as closely as possible.
In the "Model & Original" series we therefore want to offer a forum that shines the spotlight on the finest of these reproductions. In doing so, it makes no difference whether a diorama, aircraft, ship or car is involved. Here you can marvel at the intricate details that some modellers afford their models in order to create a copy of the original that is as realistic as possible.
In this regard we have been particularly taken by the models of the AIDA built by Markus Weber.
Anyone who has been fortunate enough to see a real-life cruise ship of the AIDA series has doubtless been impressed by the sheer size of these “floating deluxe hotels”.
We were equally impressed by the AIDA models. Markus presents not one but two models in an impressive diorama, with the model of the AIDA Luna boasting a length of some 60 cm. All the details have been implemented in perfect scale, and you're even given a peek into the unique theatrium.
About it Markus writes:
The photo shows my diorama featuring the model kit AIDAluna, diva, bella 1:400. The Luna stands on the diorama and I've converted one model kit and also added a further deck. Just like the last four ships have. Standing next to the Luna on the diorama is the cruise ship Stella. Both models are illuminated. I designed the diorama myself and built it together with the two Revell model kits.
